Somerset House: Eloise Hawser, Chloe Lamford, The Courtauld Gallery

 



ArtworldNow visits Somerset House, a large Neoclassical building on the Strand in central London. It was was once home of three Catholic queens: Anne of Denmark, Henrietta Maria and Catherine of Braganza.

Eloise Hawser: By the deep, by the mark makes the building’s close relationship with the River Thames and Victoria Embankment its starting point, plunging us into the hidden networks of liquid flow within our bodies and below the city. 31 January -  22 April 2018.



Chloe Lamford: Show Rooms summons a theatrical back-stage to Somerset House itself, with abandoned architectural features, imagined vistas, theatrical props, and shimmering curtains. 27 October 2017 - 6 May 2018.


 
Somerset House is also home to The Courtauld Gallery, a world-class museum whose remarkable permanent collection includes important Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces.
