ART OF THE WEEK

10 - 16 March 2014

Penta Pack by Spanish artist Guillermo Mora (b. 1980) is on display at the 1st International Biennial of Contemporary Art of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia (7 Feb - 7 April 2014).

Penta Pack questions the structural mechanisms of painting. The work is created by laying coat over coat of paint and then simply attaching the individual bundles with rubber bands. This precarious support allows the work to lose its shape whilst also enabling the viewer to become aware of the malleability of paint itself.
